Job Purpose 

Operates the facilities at its optimum design by monitoring and acting pro-actively on information obtained from the plant, control-room or his supervisor; exercises equipment care and ensures timely maintenance actions are taken to maintain equipment integrity and efficiency.

Job Dimensions 

1. The Logistics Unit handles the following annual traffic and volumes:
• 50,000 trucks/containers for polymer and drummed products,
• 5000 trucks for purchased deliveries.

Principal Accountabilities 

Operates the facilities at its optimum design by monitoring and acting pro-actively on information obtained from the plant, control-room or his supervisor; exercises equipment care and ensures timely maintenance actions are taken to maintain equipment integrity and efficiency.
Note: This JD should equally apply to Sr Operators whether they are in the bagging operations, drumming plant or truck loading area.

1. Takes care of clear verbal and/or written reporting of tasks completed against plan, and ensures proper hand-over of responsibilities takes place during daily shift changes for continuing activities.
2. Maintains a thorough knowledge of current operational status of the area that he is responsible for by reference to daily instructions, logbooks and shift change-over communications.
3. Ensures that part of the plant he is responsible for runs safely and reliably, and where production targets are not being met, identifies the problems and takes routine actions to solve these.
4. Executes spade registration according to procedures for that part of the plant he is responsible for.
5. Identifies at the earliest possible moment, potential operational problems in the HSE and Quality aspects of operations in his/her control, and after consultation with his/her supervisor undertakes the necessary corrective actions.
6. Takes first line corrective actions when equipment malfunctions. For example, jet printer on the line, and other bagging, packaging and drumming plant control malfunctions.
7. Performs simple mechanical tasks such as installing or removing separation flanges, resolving leakages, removing insulation and if so required temporary repair.
8. Ensures correct, safe and timely availability of equipment and/or instrumentation, scheduled to be repaired, and for receiving, testing and commissioning after turn-over to operations.
9. When required provides timely information and alignment with operational staff of other units involved.
10. Monitors process conditions, equipment and systems. Analyses deviations and undertakes preventive measures in consultation with senior colleagues to prevent production disturbances.
11. Assists the SS in reviewing and updating of operational manual, start-up, shutdown procedures and other operational procedure.

Qualifications & Experience

CSPC training program successfully finalized.

1. Educational background:
• Qualification from a secondary technical school and above, in chemical or mechanical engineering.
2. Work experience:
• 3-5 years working experience in petrochemical industry.
3. Language proficiency:
• Read speak and write English in the day-to-day work communication. Makes himself understood and understands instructions given in writing and verbally.
4. PC skills:
• Proficient in PC skills.
